The investigating officer for the recent break in/robbery in Hamlet B is requesting any information to assist them in solving this crime.  The time period in question is between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 4.  What may seem trivial to some may be very useful to the police. So please if you noticed anything that looked unfamiliar in Hamlet B during that time, please report it.  Many little pieces make up a puzzle.  You may email your information to Investigator Michael Roche at the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.   michael.roche@loudoun.gov

With all of the snow we have received and the additional snow coming, we would like to clarify the snow plowing activities that take place in our community, since receiving several phone calls and emails on the matter.  Lenah Run has two classifications of roads - VDOT and PAEs (pipestems).  The HOA has a private contractor to plow out the PAEs and the state is responsible to plow the VDOT roads.  The state subcontracts that work out to local companies and on ocassion our contractor is engaged by the state.  In those instances the whole community gets taken care of at the same time and quicker.  This has been a very large storm and was beyond general snow plowing capabilities.  The trucks were making several passes through the streets just to keep them open without the opportunity to widen them very much.  Even the VDOT trucks only did basically one lane and were not coming back to do more clean up or widening, which we all would like.

Plowing will start this evening, so please help them out by having vehicles off the road if possible and all trash cans brought in.  The plow drivers may not see them and they might become a casualty to the plow.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Sun is promised for us for the last three days of the week which should help alot.  In the meantime, enjoy the scenic effects of Mother Nature, but remember - THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

Dear Residents,

Forecast - 2″ of snow by this evenings rush hour, then a total of 12-20″ by tomorrow evening.

With a normal snow event 2-6″ we would concern ourselves with getting our client sites as passable and cleared for residents and emergency vehicles. Given the heavy amount of snow expected to continue tomorrow throughout the day, we will NOT be plowing until late morning in most communities, then again in the evening, once the storm is over.

In most instances, we are far ahead of the county. If you have a driveway or garage, I recommend that you use them so the plows can clear the lots/PAE easier. If you park in the Street then the contractors cannot access the street and will turn around and go to another street until all vehicles are out of the way! With that said, for those of you that have a cleared lot, PAE or streets this does not mean you should leave! STAY HOME!

I do not believe anyone (county or private contractor) will perform better for this storm then the last (they are all taxed), and based on that evidence, the roads tomorrow will be impassable for most vehicles.

There is also mention of rain and ice with this storm, which means there could be power outages again. Please consider tomorrow morning turning up your thermostat to 85 degrees, and “bank heat” in case you lose power. It would also help to close off rooms you do not use.  At Home Depot, they sell faux mantles with small gas fireplaces. These units look nice and can heat a small room.

Please be prepared again to stay home tonight, tomorrow, and perhaps even Thursday.

If you absolutely need to be at work tomorrow (Medical Doctors, etc), stay there tonight or for those that can afford to, consider staying at a hotel for a few days.

If you have backup generators please make sure you have plenty of fuel.

If you have a deck please clear them off. Several Decks have collapsed due to the weight of the snow. I would also recommend that ice cycles be removed from entryways so they do not fall and hit anyone. These big Ice cycles could land someone in the hospital if one hits them.

Please take caution, and make good decisions.

When calling the PMP answering service at 1-888-454-0673 please provide the operator with as much information as possible. Be aware that a PMP manager will not call you back unless we have questions! (Do not ask for a call back it may be impossible for the manager to do so.) PMP will be working with the contractors to work effectively and as efficiently as possible and having to call people back just takes too much time. Also, please be honest about the situation, many of the calls we received are truly false and that takes away from the people who really have an emergency!

Lenah Run Residents,

As many of you know, over the past several months, members of our community have been working with the HoltzmanPropane company to offer an alternative to Amerigas.  A number of homeowners are planning to switch companies in the very near future.  As part of this process, the Amerigas owned propane tanks will be excavated, drained and made ready for pick-up.  However, Amerigas has 30 days to remove the old propane tanks.  Therefore, we are anticipating a number of propane tanks will be sitting on homeowner’s property for up to a month.  For safety reasons, please avoid placing the tanks on or near the street.  The ideal location is at the back of the driveway or nearby in the side yard.  The Covenants Committee will not issue violations to homeowners during this period, as long as they are removed within 45 days.  Since it will be the homeowner’s responsibility to call Amerigas and pay the removal fee, please do not delay once the tank is readied for removal.

Our management company has informed us that our contracted contractor’s equipment is non-operational.  Our management agent is securing the services of another plowing company.  Because of their other contracted commitments, unfortunately Lenah will be later in the day, but our managing agent is working to see if we can get someone earlier.  We have been informed that VDOT has started plowing services in Lenah on the VDOT roads in the community.  Please bear with the situtation and if at all possible, please stay in and enjoy the beautiful scene.  Thanks for your understanding.

LCPS has informed the Lenah Run HOA that there will be a public hearing by the Loudoun County Planning Commission on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 6:00 PM, in the Board of Superviors Meeting Room, County Government Center, 1 Harrison St., SE, Leesburg, VA.

AmeriGas has provided a letter to the Association offering a price to all residents of Lenah that is based on a profit margin of $0.60 per gallon added to their per gallon propane cost.  This is significantly lower than previous pricing.  This price is effective through October 31, 2010 and will be reviewed annually by AmeriGas.  AmeriGas is also willing to adjust any invoices for propane that was delivered after September 2009 to the new price.  To take advantage of this price, you should call AmeriGas at 800-222-0808 and tell them you are a Lenah Run resident and want to sign up for the new price, plus applicable adjustment for previous delivery.  Since all contracts are between AmeriGas and each resident, their legal requirement is that each resident needs to call to authorize the change to their account.

This pricing methodology will keep our prices more stable and will only change based on the cost of propane to AmeriGas.
